BlueTrace Distributor Sales Rep 

The BlueTrace Distributor Sales Rep will play a critical role in growing our seafood supply chain traceability solution.  Work closely with seafood distributors/wholesalers/processors to help them grow their businesses with technology designed to help them improve their processes. 

BlueTrace is a venture backed Seafood Technology startup. We’re reinventing traceability for the seafood industry–to make the industry more efficient, sustainable and safer for consumers. Today, our solutions help shellfish businesses large and small save time and comply with food safety regulations. Our plans include expanding the solution to the rest of seafood and adding new modules to help our clients embrace the power of technology.

Who are we looking for?

  • You live in a metro area with a high-density of seafood distributors: NY, Northeast, DC, or Los Angeles.
  • You are a bright, fun, and engaging person who knows how to build and maintain relationships with clients. 
  • You have worked in the seafood industry and you understand the significance of adopting new technology to potential clients in the industry.
  • You will thrive in a consultative sales role where you learn deeply from clients about their business and then advise how the client can get the most out of BlueTrace’s software. 
  • You are comfortable with a compensation approach that is part salaried and part commission-based and you understand that your total compensation will be commensurate with your ability to win new and retain business. 
  • Experience using mobile apps and enough technical aptitude to show clients how to navigate and use BlueTrace’s mobile app. Note: we value willingness to learn technology more than experience with technology. 
  • High degree of comfort working in an online, remote work culture using tools like GSuite, Slack, and Zoom -- transparency and communication is critical.
  • You possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • You blow folks away with your responsiveness and attention to detail.
  • You have a deep sense of personal responsibility and take complete ownership for the work you’re assigned.
  • Comfortable working with minimal guidance, and under conditions of uncertainty or ambiguity. You can easily adapt when a plan changes.

What you'll do:

  • Contact potential clients. You will spend a lot of your time on client outreach via phone, texting, or email to make first contact, setup meetings, and follow up.
  • Build relationships with Shellfish and Seafood distributors, who are buying and selling seafood at scale and who need to comply with regulations.
  • Present BlueTrace’s software capabilities and pricing options to potential clients - about 20% of your time will be spent traveling and visiting clients.
  • Close deals and win new business for BlueTrace. 
  • Capture all of your sales activity each day in Hubspot - without exception.
  • Client support for any business that you’ve won so that the client is happy and getting the most out of the BlueTrace solution.
  • Attend trade shows and industry events to build relationships and attract new clients.
  • Consult on marketing activities to win new business and to engage current clients with helpful information about product usage.

Bonus points if:

  • You’ve worked at a SaaS company
  • You have experience in seafood or shellfish distribution 
  • You have a working knowledge of the regulatory compliance requirements for shellfish harvesting, processing and distribution (e.g. NSSP, HACCP)

Compensation & benefits:

  • This is a full-time, remote position that will be compensated using an agreed upon salary and existing commission structure.
  • There are no benefits offered for this position.
  • You’ll work with a team dedicated to your success, including marketing support to generate leads.
