Full Stack JS Engineer

To fulfill our mission, BlueTrace is adding a Full Stack JS Engineer to our small, remote team. As a member of the team, you will work on every layer of the stack. You will have opportunities to build out our open API as we lead data portability through integrations with other seafood software providers, to create new interfaces in our React Native iOS application helping cold room workers get their jobs done more efficiently, to be on the ground floor as we make decisions about how we serve business owners via desktop applications, connected supply chains, and more.

About You:

• You have a strong background in full-stack JavaScript development, with experience using Node.js and React or React Native. Bonus points for deep TypeScript experience.
• You have experience with MongoDB and are comfortable using it as a database solution.
• You have a track record of building and shipping great software.
• You are passionate about building quality user interfaces.
• You are entrepreneurial: love building products and businesses, and thrive in a fast moving startup environment.
• You have a deep sense of personal responsibility and take complete ownership for your work.
• You are comfortable working in a fully remote work culture, using tools like GSuite, Slack, and Zoom to communicate and collaborate with your team.
• You are US based and willing to work on Eastern or Central time.
• You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time. In disagreements, you engage thoughtfully with other perspectives and compromise when needed.

What you’ll do:

• Work collaboratively with our team of experienced engineers to develop and maintain our seafood traceability solution.
• Work with and get support from a UX and product team with years of experience building successful software businesses.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers on the team.
• Collaborate with our product team to define requirements as we evolve our product to help clients make smarter decisions every day.
• Help shape our engineering culture and processes as we continue to grow and evolve as a company.

Bonus points if:

• You have experience with native development using Swift or Objective C.
• You are fluent in state machines.
• You have ever played with a printer sdk or ZPL (we print a lot of labels).
• You have built desktop applications using Electron.
• You have experience in the seafood industry or other industries related to food safety and traceability.
